Richard Walker Garden Design and Consultancy
Creating and Caring for Gardens

Richard is a professionally qualified Horticulturalist and Garden Designer, having trained at The English Gardening School, based within The Chelsea Physic Garden, where he graduated with three Diplomas in Practical Horticulture, Plants & Plantsmanship, and Garden Design, each with Distinction.

Rickmansworth born and bred, with the majority of his horticultural commissions in this locality, Richard is familiar with this area and well qualified to help the local community with their gardens and gardening issues. Since 2004, Richard has operated a successful, friendly and personalised Garden Design, Garden Management and Horticultural Consultancy business. His aim is to ensure that every client derives the greatest amount of pleasure from their gardens, whether they own the smallest terrace or a somewhat larger plot.

Having studied not only Garden Design and Plantsmanship, but also Practical Horticulture, Richard is well-qualified to assist with Design, Consultancy Services, Management and Hands-on Gardening Commissions. He regards every project with which he is entrusted as unique, and values long term relationships with his clients. The results are harmonious gardens with atmosphere and a strong sense of place that fully express the personality of the client. Richard is also a Chartered Building Surveyor and his knowledge in this field enables him to advise on hard landscaping elements within the garden and more especially the juxtaposition of house and garden. Richard's thorough, professional training and breath of experience since graduating, enables him to offer a diverse range of horticultural expertise to both the residential and corporate client. He is keen to not only 'design', but to also 'work in actual gardens', thus offering an exceptionally wide range of services, including the following:

· Redesign of gardens from initial concept stage right through to construction of hard landscaping, garden creation and planting

· Redesign of specific parts or areas of gardens, where some improvement or a new lease of life is needed, from concept to completion, as above

· Preparation of Garden Layout Plans and Planting Plans

· Garden Management and preparation of Planned Garden Maintenance Schedules

· Design by Planting

· Specialist garden maintenance, pruning and the seasonal care of gardens

· Consultancy advice on all aspects of Horticulture
